Aunty Marion Keliikipi's 70th Birthday

Aunty Marion was excited to get a maile lei ("a lei for the kings" she said)
as her granddaughters danced hula to the music of Lindsey Lindsey Sr. and his wife, who had just came from performing at the Four Seasons resort.

The family and friends all enjoyed the evening of food and entertainment at the seafood buffet in the King Kamehameha Kona Beach Resort.

Breakfast at Splashers in Kailua Kona, Hawaii

The other day I enjoyed a delicious seafood 4-egg omelet at Splasher's Grill in Kailua Village. A beautiful setting across from the Kailua Bay. So big I didn't know if I could finish it. The salsa is homemade and very tasty. Price: $12.00.

Dancing the Night Away in Kona, Hawaii

I shot this image during the holidays of master weaver Aunty Josephine Palacat dancing with a snow bird at the Verandah Bar in the Keauhou Beach Resort to the sounds of Aloha Aina. It was a party atmosphere.

Santo Nino Fiesta in Kona Hawaii

The Philippines’ MOTHER of all Festivals – Sinulog de CEBU! came to the Old Airport in Kailua Kona Hawaii with food, music, and dance.

It's a celebration for the figure of the Baby Jesus appearing in the Philippines, Sr. Santo Nino.
And our Kona Filipino community seemed to be having a great time.

Ahriana's 2nd Birthday Party

Ahriana got the first bite out of her birthday cake, as family and friends looked on in Kailua Kona, Hawaii.
She danced around, shook hands with everyone, and enjoyed the Filipino food her Grandpa Mar cooked for everyone. (See food below.)

Martha's Mexican Food

They painted the place, complete with murals on some walls, and fixed up the building.
What I've heard is the landlord raised the rent after the place was starting to look better. So they gave up, Martha's Mexican Restaurant never opened here in Kailua Kona, Hawaii.

Aunty Margaret Machado Passes Away

Aunty Margaret Machado, the teacher of teachers of lomilomi massage, and a living legend, passed away on December 28th, 2009.
She broke from Hawaiian tradition of secrecy, in sharing her knowledge of this ancient Hawaiian massage practice, becoming licensed by the state in 1965 and has taught hundreds of students. Aunty Margaret was the only authentic, Hawaiian kupuna licensed by the state of Hawaii to train therapists under state requirements.
Her daughter, Nerita Machado, continues the teaching of this form of "loving touch."
Aunty Margaret was 93 years old.
